Cookie policy

Last updated: September 2026.

Cookies are small files stored on your device. We keep our use of them, and of similar browser storage, to a minimum:

  • Essential preferences (always on) — small values kept in your browser's local storage (not cookies) to remember your light/dark theme, your cookie choice and which guides you’ve already rated as helpful or not. They stay on your device and are not used for tracking.
  • Analytics (only with your consent) — we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors find and move through the site and which guides are useful, including which outbound links people follow. Analytics cookies are off by default and only set if you select Accept on our cookie banner. Until then, Google Analytics runs in consent mode and sends only limited, cookieless signals.
  • Affiliate attribution — some outbound links (including Amazon) are affiliate links. When you follow one and buy on the retailer's own site, that retailer may set its own cookies there to credit the purchase. WATTB does not set affiliate cookies or embed retailer tracking on our own pages. We do record, through the analytics above, which affiliate link was clicked (guide, product and rank) with no personal data — and that only uses cookies after you accept analytics.
  • Maps — the maps on some guides load tiles from OpenStreetMap and set no cookies.

Your choices

You can accept or decline analytics on the banner shown on your first visit. To change your mind later, clear this site's data in your browser (which resets your choice and shows the banner again), or use your browser settings to control or delete cookies. Clearing site data also resets your theme preference.

Analytics data

Google Analytics processes usage data (such as pages viewed, approximate location, device/browser, referring site and outbound clicks) on our behalf. We do not sell your data. See Google's own policies for how they handle it, and our privacy policy for more.
