Who we are
WhatAreTheTop.Best (“we”) operates this website. Contact us at hello@whatarethetop.best.
What we collect
- Analytics data (with your consent) — we use Google Analytics 4 to collect usage data: pages visited and the path you take through the site, approximate region, device and browser type, the site that referred you, and which outbound links you follow. This only uses cookies/identifiers after you accept analytics on our cookie banner; before that it runs in an aggregated, cookieless mode. Google processes this data as our processor.
- Advertising & affiliate data — if we enable advertising or affiliate links in future, third parties such as Amazon may set cookies on their own sites to attribute purchases. These are currently disabled.
- Maps — some guides include a map of the places they cover. It loads only when you scroll to it, and its map tiles come from OpenStreetMap, which receives your IP address in order to serve the tiles. No cookies are set for the map. See OpenStreetMap's own privacy policy for how they handle that request.
- Contact & submission data — if you email us, or use a form when one is enabled (newsletter sign-up, suggest-an-edit or a business enquiry), we use the details you send — such as your email address and message — to process your request and reply. On-site forms are only active once a delivery destination is configured; when active, your submission is passed to that destination (our processor) to handle. We do not write the contents of your message or your email address to our routine application logs.
Legal basis
We rely on your consent for analytics (which you can give or withdraw via the cookie banner), and on our legitimate interest in operating and securing the site for essential functions. We do not sell your personal data.
Cookies
Analytics cookies are off until you accept them. See our cookie policy for the full list and how to change your choice.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you. Contact us to make a request.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected in the date above.
