Established in 2009 at 15 Blackfriars Street, a two-minute walk off the Royal Mile, The Edinburgh Larder is the strongest provenance story of the group. The hero plate is a Full Scottish breakfast built from named local produce — Ramsay's smoked back bacon, black pudding, haggis, Cumberland sausage, portobello, homemade beans, a free-range poached egg, potato scone and granary toast — at an indicative £18.50, with lighter options such as seasonal porridge. The local-sourcing ethos extends to the drinks list: locally-roasted coffee, Edinburgh's Eteaket teas and Scottish craft beers and soft drinks. It caters vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free. It ranks below Loudons on sheer breadth — smaller menu, narrower free-from range — but wins outright for visitors who want Old Town convenience and a genuine Scottish-sourcing story. It is a compact, earlier-opening room (from 7:30am on weekdays) and leans traditional rather than trend-led.
