SimplyCook is a different proposition from the pre-portioned boxes above, and much cheaper as a result. Each box contains four recipe kits made up of flavour pots, stocks and spice blends; you supply four to six fresh ingredients such as meat, vegetables or rice from your own shop. That keeps the subscription cost very low, indicatively around £9.99 for a box of four kits plus postage, and first boxes are frequently discounted to just a few pounds to try. The pots store in the cupboard until you need them. With a large recipe library and meals ready in about 30 minutes, it is a smart way to add variety and reduce food waste on a budget. The trade-off is obvious: it does not save you a supermarket trip, so it is best seen as a flavour-and-inspiration service rather than a full recipe box.
