The Koda 2 is Ooni's current-generation 14-inch gas oven, replacing the discontinued Koda 12; it reaches 500°C and cooks a Neapolitan-style pizza in roughly 60 seconds, with a redesigned burner (Ooni's G2 gas technology) intended to spread heat more evenly across a larger stone than the older model. As a couples gift it earns its high performance and feedback scores because it can turn cooking together into an occasion, and Ooni's ovens are consistently well reviewed. It ranks below the Virgin voucher only because it is far narrower: at an indicative £399 RRP it is a bigger spend, needs outdoor space and gas, and suits keen cooks specifically rather than any couple. If budget is the priority, the previous-generation Koda 12 still makes excellent pizza, but Ooni discontinued it in 2024, so it is now mainly available second-hand or from whatever third-party clearance stock remains rather than as a reliable new buy — and it lacks the Koda 2's burner and larger-stone improvements and its current warranty.
The good & the bad
Pros
- Reaches 500°C and cooks a fresh pizza in about 60 seconds
- Larger 14-inch stone and redesigned burner improve on the older 12-inch Koda 12
- Consistently strong owner reviews; a memorable, genuinely used gift for keen cooks
Cons
- At ~£399 it is a significant spend and needs outdoor space plus gas
- Only suits couples who actively enjoy cooking and entertaining
