For the dad who fancies himself a pitmaster but doesn't want the faff of charcoal, the Ninja Woodfire is a brilliant gift. It runs on mains electricity yet burns a small scoop of wood pellets to add authentic smoke, so he can grill, smoke, roast, bake, reheat, dehydrate and air-fry from one compact unit. Because it's electric and weatherproof, it happily lives on a balcony or patio and works through winter, not just in July. On price, the RRP is around £349.99 but it's frequently discounted to roughly £250-£280, and lower still on Black Friday, so it needn't be a splurge. Bear in mind it needs an outdoor power socket and the pellets are a small ongoing cost.
