The Forerunner 265 is the watch most keen UK runners would happily unwrap. Its bright AMOLED touchscreen, training-readiness and HRV-status insights, and recovery guidance make it a genuine coach on the wrist, while phone-free music storage and incident detection with LiveTrack add day-to-day and safety value that mid-range rivals often lack. It sits above the cheaper Coros Pace 4 mainly on breadth: a larger app and accessory ecosystem, on-board music and Garmin's wider brand familiarity as a gift. The trade-off is price, though it's widely available from around £290, well below its £429 launch RRP. It stops short of full offline mapping (that's the pricier Forerunner 965), but for most runners that's no loss.
