Finum's German-made Brewing Basket is a fine stainless micro-mesh filter in a heat-tolerant, BPA-free frame, with a lid that flips over to act as a drip tray. It gives loose leaves far more room than a cramped tea ball, so the water actually circulates, and it drops straight into a mug or teapot — which makes it the ideal pairing with a bag of loose tea or a nod to someone curious about leaf tea. It sits fifth not because it's poor — value and feedback are excellent — but because it's a modest accessory rather than a centrepiece gift, and its feature set is deliberately simple. The trade-off versus the Bodum pot is exactly that simplicity: no glass to break and it costs a fraction as much, but it's a solo, single-vessel tool rather than a share-a-pot brewer.
The good & the bad
Pros
- Outstanding value and strong public reviews for a few pounds
- Large micro-mesh basket brews loose leaf better than a tea ball
- Lid doubles as a drip tray; dishwasher safe and long-lasting
Cons
- A modest accessory rather than a standout, wow-factor gift
- Simple by design — no temperature, capacity or presentation extras
