If you want a slow cooker that does far more than slow cook, the PossibleCooker PRO earns its keep. The heavy-duty non-stick pot is hob- and oven-safe, so you can brown meat and soften onions directly in the cooker before switching to a long, low braise, cutting out a separate frying pan. Beyond slow cooking it handles searing, steaming, baking, simmering and keeping food warm, and an integrated cooking spoon stores in the handle. At 8L it caters for big batches and gatherings. It is not a pressure cooker, so if you specifically want pressure cooking look elsewhere. It also costs considerably more than a basic pot and takes up real space, but for one-appliance versatility it's the pick.

The good & the bad

Pros

  • Sear and slow-cook in one non-stick pot, so less washing-up
  • Huge 8L capacity for batch cooking and entertaining
  • Genuinely versatile: steam, bake, simmer and keep warm
  • Hob- and oven-safe pot adds flexibility

Cons

  • Significantly pricier than a standard slow cooker
  • Bulky footprint that needs dedicated worktop or cupboard space
  • No pressure-cooking function despite the multi-cooker billing
