From £32 pp for two courses

Indicative price at the time of review.

The Loveable Rogue's West End branch was one of two Glasgow venues named in the Good Food Guide's 2024 roundup of Britain's best Sunday roasts, and it earns our top spot because the 'Rogue Roast' is built to impress a table rather than just a plate. The menu lists tender Speyside beef with Yorkshire puddings, beef-fat garlic roasties, brisket mac 'n' cheese, honey root veg, vegetable écrasé and red wine gravy, at an indicative £32 per person for two courses or £36 for three. That sharing-style spread is what edges it above Porter & Rye for most groups: you get more variety and a more sociable table for well under the steakhouse's per-head price, in exchange for a feast format rather than the precise plating of a dedicated steakhouse. A vegetarian main and sides are available, and the group runs the same roast at its East End and Southside sites, so check which branch you are booking.

The good & the bad

Pros

  • Named in the Good Food Guide's 2024 best Sunday roasts list
  • Speyside beef with a spread of sides (roasties, brisket mac 'n' cheese, honey root veg) for real variety
  • Around £32 for two courses — strong value for a Good Food Guide-listed roast

Cons

  • Books up fast for Sunday sittings
  • A sharing-feast format rather than the refined plating of a steakhouse
