Gauthier Soho is 'French gastronomy without using animals' - a fully plant-based room from Michelin-starred chef Alexis Gauthier, set in an elegant Soho townhouse and listed in the Michelin Guide. It runs two vegan tasting menus: the six-course Petit Diner at an indicative £80.50 per person, and the eight-course Grand Diner at around £115 per person (sold as a £230 voucher for two), both inclusive of coffee, petit-fours and 15% service. This is the classical-luxury counterpoint to Plates: a larger, more available and less high-pressure dining room, plus a genuinely shorter, lower-commitment six-course option if you don't want a full ten-course marathon. The trade-off is that the cooking is classical rather than modern or experimental, and it doesn't carry a Michelin star on the vegan concept specifically. Gauthier's on-site menu page doesn't display prices, so the figures here come from its own gift-voucher store and are indicative - confirm at booking.
The good & the bad
Pros
- Fully plant-based French fine dining from a Michelin-starred chef
- Larger, more available dining room than Plates' tiny counter
- Shorter six-course option at an indicative £80.50 pp lowers the commitment
Cons
- Classical rather than modern or experimental cooking
- Prices are drawn from the voucher store, not an on-site menu - confirm when booking

Insider tip · The six-course Petit Diner is the smart way to sample the kitchen without the full eight-course spend - and it still includes coffee, petit-fours and service.
