The Arete Two builds on the Arete One that made Meaco a household name for damp control, adding a HEPA-grade filter so it doubles as an air purifier. As a compressor unit it is at its best in normally heated living spaces, where it clears window condensation quickly and holds a set humidity without you fiddling with it. The control panel is clear, the laundry mode speeds up indoor drying, and it is one of the quietest 25L-class machines you can buy, so it is comfortable to run in a bedroom or study. A generous tank and continuous-drain port mean you can leave it running for laundry loads or empty it once a day. Running costs are low for the extraction on offer, which is why it remains our default recommendation for most UK households.
