If you want warmth in the living room rather than under the sheets, an overblanket is the answer, and Beurer's HD 150 Nordic is among the best made. The fleece is plush and generously sized (roughly 200 x 150cm), it offers up to six temperature settings with a timer and auto shut-off, and Beurer's safety system is reassuringly thorough. The controller detaches so the throw can go in the washing machine. It costs more than supermarket heated throws, but the fabric quality, even heat and longevity put it ahead. Bear in mind an overblanket warms you rather than the bed, so it's a companion to, not a replacement for, an underblanket if it's the mattress you want warm.
