Dreamland's Intelliheat range is where the brand's engineering shows. The soft cotton-feel fabric sits comfortably under a fitted sheet, warms the bed quickly (Dreamland claims usable warmth in around 10 minutes) and spreads heat evenly rather than in obvious hot strips. Double, king and super king versions have dual controls so each side can be set independently, and detachable controllers let you machine wash the blanket. The standout extra is the Intelliheat energy display, which gives you a sense of what each heat level costs to run so you can settle on a lower setting with confidence. It's not the cheapest option, and the single (~£50) has one controller, but for nightly winter use the comfort, safety and control justify the outlay.
