Adult from ~£26 online; family of 4 from ~£86 (indicative, online advance)
Indicative price at the time of review.
Warwick Castle wears its Merlin Entertainments ownership openly: this is history delivered as spectacle, and for families that is exactly the point. A single day realistically covers the Falconer's Quest bird-of-prey show (billed as the UK's largest), the immersive Kingmaker walk-through, the Horrible Histories Maze, the Zog Playland for younger children, the Legend of the Trebuchet siege-machine firing and, in summer, live jousting in the water meadow. The ramparts and towers are steep and genuinely old, so there is real castle here alongside the shows. Book online well ahead — dynamic pricing means gate prices are considerably higher (around £31 versus roughly £26 online for adults). The scariest attraction, the Castle Dungeon, is often a paid add-on and carries a recommended-age-10-plus guideline, so it rules out younger children.
The good & the bad
Pros
- One ticket covers birds of prey, mazes, the trebuchet, play areas and seasonal jousting
- Genuine medieval ramparts and towers to climb alongside the shows
- Enough on site to fill a full day whatever the weather
Cons
- Dynamic pricing and paid extras (Dungeon, some experiences) add up quickly
- Peak days get very busy and shows can mean queues
