Tucked into a residential corner of Fulham, The Harwood Arms opened in 2010 and remains one of London's defining addresses for game-led pub cooking, having held a Michelin star for well over a decade. Co-founded with input from game specialist Mike Robinson, its kitchen builds a daily-changing menu around British game and carefully sourced seasonal produce, and its venison Scotch egg has become a London institution in its own right. Dining is via a three-course set menu, but the room stays convincingly pub-like: a busy bar, well-kept ales and a genuine neighbourhood buzz rather than hushed formality. Sunday roasts are a particular draw and go fast. It is the most accessible pub on this list for anyone based in the capital, and a fine introduction to serious gastropub cooking without leaving the city.
