Indicative price at the time of review.
Hawksmoor is the safest high-end choice in London because it does the whole occasion well, not just the beef: native-breed, grass-fed British cattle dry-aged for 35 days and cooked over charcoal, alongside a strong seafood list, cocktails and a well-regarded Sunday roast. It runs multiple London branches — the original Spitalfields, Guildhall, Seven Dials, Air Street, Borough, Knightsbridge and the new St Pancras — so details and rooms vary by branch. Its new St Pancras branch entered the World's 101 Best Steak Restaurants 2026 at No. 13, and Hawksmoor was again named among the world's best multi-site steak restaurant groups — evidence of consistency across the group rather than a single kitchen. Sharing cuts such as Porterhouse and Chateaubriand are priced by weight; expect roughly £70–£90pp à la carte, with set and sharing menus from around £65pp. Versus Goodman below, you gain broader appeal, more central locations and a livelier room; you give up a little of Goodman's single-minded focus on dry-ageing and rare-breed sourcing.
The good & the bad
Pros
- 35-day dry-aged, native-breed British beef with consistent quality across branches
- Occasion-friendly Art Deco-styled rooms, strong cocktails and seafood beyond the steak
- Multiple central London locations make it the easiest premium steakhouse to book
Cons
- À la carte, sides and drinks add up fast — comfortably a three-figure dinner for two
- Popular branches book out well ahead at weekends
