The Ninja is the only pick here that truly earns its counter space beyond soup. A 1,000W motor works alongside a separate 800W heating element, so it cooks a batch in around 20 minutes and then, on the same jug, crushes ice and blends cold smoothies and frozen drinks that a heat-biased soup maker simply cannot. Ten automatic presets (including Smooth Soup, Chunky Soup, Sauté, Frozen Drink and Milkshake) plus six manual settings cover far more than lunch, and a delay-start mode lets soup be ready to a schedule. The PFAS-free heat-resistant glass jug is dishwasher-safe with a built-in Clean program, holds 1.7L cold / 1.4L hot — the largest usable capacity on the shortlist — and won't scratch like the non-stick jugs on the Morphy Richards models. Ideal Home rated it the standout for smooth, creamy soup. The trade-off versus the dedicated soup makers below is cost, height and weight (~5.6kg): you pay for blender versatility you may not use if you only ever want soup. Price is indicative and taken from SharkNinja's own UK store (reduced from £189.99).

The good & the bad

Pros

  • Genuine dual use — the 1,000W motor crushes ice and blends cold drinks a soup-only machine can't
  • See-through glass jug that won't scratch or stain, with the largest usable capacity (1.7L cold)
  • Rated the top performer for smooth soup by Ideal Home, with a delay-start mode

Cons

  • The most expensive pick, and tall and heavy (~5.6kg) on the worktop
  • Overkill if you only ever want one or two bowls of soup
