The Colorsoft is Amazon's answer to colour E Ink and the natural choice for readers committed to the Kindle store who want covers, highlights and illustrated content in colour. The 7-inch display shows colour at 150ppi and sharp mono text at 300ppi, and the Signature Edition adds wireless charging, auto-adjusting light and IPX8 waterproofing. It is fast and tightly integrated with Amazon's library and Whispersync. The catch is price and openness: it costs more than the similarly specified Libra Colour, has no physical page-turn buttons, and keeps you inside Amazon's formats. Early units drew some complaints about a faint yellow band along the screen edge, though a software update and later stock resolved this for most owners.
