Rather than sitting in your ears, the OpenRun Pro 2 rest on your cheekbones and use a hybrid of bone conduction and a small air-conduction driver (Shokz calls it DualPitch) to add welcome bass that older bone-conduction headphones lacked. Because your ear canals stay completely open, you retain far more awareness of your surroundings than sealed buds, which is well suited to road and trail running in company. The titanium band is light and stable, battery life runs to around 12 hours, and a five-minute quick charge is enough for a long session. They rank second rather than first only because sound will not match a sealed in-ear bud and they leak audibly at high volume; but if hearing traffic is your priority they are the pick over the Powerbeats, and the ones to skip if you want isolation on a treadmill or the richest sound.
