Indicative price at the time of review.

Pushkar sits on Broad Street in the thick of Birmingham's nightlife, and it leans into that: you enter past a cocktail bar where a resident mixologist has built drinks to match the menu, and the dining room is styled for a glamorous night out. The cooking is contemporary and prettily plated — the meat is halal — with the presentation aiming higher than the price bracket suggests; it was named Best of Birmingham at the 2025 Nation's Curry Awards. It is not the most authentic or the most inventive kitchen on this list, but for a lively dinner with good cocktails before or after the Brindleyplace and Broad Street bars, it is well judged and easy to book. The city-centre canalside location and tram stop nearby make it convenient for a group.

The good & the bad

Pros

  • Strong cocktail list and a genuine bar scene
  • Handsome plating and presentation for the price, with halal meat
  • Convenient Broad Street location for a night out

Cons

  • Cooking is polished rather than groundbreaking
  • Broad Street setting can feel more nightlife than fine dining
