The VonHaus is the model to reach for when budget comes first. Its winged layout gives a flat central section with two folding side panels, offering a surprising amount of hanging space for the size while drawing only around 230W - roughly 5-6p an hour. It will not match a three-tier Dry:Soon for outright capacity or drying speed, and thicker items like jeans and towels benefit from a fan, open window or dehumidifier nearby, but for airing shirts, underwear and lighter loads in a flat or bedsit it is genuinely good value. It folds flat to lean against a wall or slide into a cupboard, making it easy to stow between washes.

The good & the bad

Pros

  • Very affordable entry price
  • Folding wings adapt to the load and pack away flat
  • Tiny ~230W draw costs pennies to run

Cons

  • Lower capacity than tiered models
  • Slower on thick items without added airflow
