The Dome Gen 2 is the enthusiast's choice and the strongest performer here on pure heat and build. Launched in early 2026, it adds around 40% more cooking space than the original Dome, enough for two 10in pizzas at once or a single 16in pie, while its domed, densely insulated chamber over a 30mm cordierite stone floor stores enormous heat, so it recovers quickly between bakes and stays hot long enough to roast, bake bread and slow-cook long after the pizzas are done. It is multi-fuel, burning wood or charcoal for flavour and switching to propane for hands-off control. It edges the Karu 2 Pro above on retained heat and back-to-back output, but at around £2,000 it costs close to three times as much, and at roughly 62kg it is realistically a permanent fixture rather than portable, with the matching stand a further cost. Buy it if pizza night is a serious, regular event and you value all-day versatility over portability and price; skip it for the Karu or Roccbox if you want to move the oven or spend less.
The good & the bad
Pros
- Exceptional insulation and heat retention for back-to-back bakes
- True multi-fuel: wood/charcoal flavour or propane convenience
- Doubles as a bread and roasting oven, not just a pizza maker
Cons
- Considerably more expensive than the Ooni field, and the stand is extra
- Heavy and bulky; realistically a permanent fixture, not portable
