The Roccbox has been a favourite for years and remains the portable pick to beat. It is heavier and sturdier than most 12in rivals, with a thick stone floor and dense insulation that punch above its size, plus a distinctive silicone outer skin that stays cool to the touch, reassuring around children. Gas is the default for one-dial control, and an optional wood burner adds flavour. The retractable legs and manageable footprint mean it stows in a cupboard or comes to a friend's garden. The mouth is narrower than the 16in ovens, so very large pizzas are out, which is why it ranks below the bigger Karu and Dome; but for two-person portability and build quality it is hard to beat, and the pick if you want to carry the oven between gardens.
